Pernod Ricard India has launched Aberlour; Single Malt Whisky in India market. The launch entails the introduction of the entire range- Aberlour 12 years old, 16 years old and 18 years old, exclusively available in duty free stores of Mumbai and Delhi. The whiskies of Aberlour are long regarded by enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike as one of the finest single malts being produced today.

Founded in 1879 by James Fleming, Aberlour’s distillery is surrounded by water from the Lour Burn. The name Aberlour means ‘the mouth of the chattering burn’ in Gaelic. Local monks in ancient times thought that the noise the burn made, as it cascaded over waterfalls and wooded glens on its way to the river Spey, sounded as though it were talking. The Birkenbush Springs above the distillery feed soft fresh spring water for making Aberlour single malt.

Commenting on the launch, Kartik Mohindra, head – international brands, Pernod Ricard India said, “We are proud to present Aberlour, yet another fine offering from our prestigious portfolio of premium spirits. The inimitable quality and craftsmanship make Aberlour, one of the most consistently awarded single malt whiskies. With the rising appetite for crafted single malts whiskies, we feel it’s the right time to bring Aberlour to the Indian audience. We are confident that this will resonate with the discerning malt connoisseurs who are looking for enriching, authentic and unique whisky experiences.”

Aberlour 12 Year Old is a smooth, fruity dram with citrus character complemented by the use of ex-sherry casks. The 16 Year Old, double matured in ex-bourbon and sherry casks, is slightly creamier and richer, with a more velvety mouth-feel. The 18 Year Old is the finest of the three– gentle, soft and fruity on the nose, and wonderfully rich and spicy on the palate, this is a dram that should be savoured slowly without ice or water.

Aberlour is part of Chivas Brothers, the Scotch whisky and premium gin business of Pernod Ricard.
