Mad Over Donuts chain of stores will open outlets in South East Asia and the Middle East. Tarak Bhattacharya, COO, Mad Over Donuts said, “Until 2011, we had about 12 to 13 stores operating in India, but in the last 14-15 months, we’ve tripled our business. Since we’re headquartered in Singapore, we know the South East Asian palate and we plan to open stores there by the last quarter of this fiscal.”
“There are only two things in India that work; movies and food,” said Bhattacharya, while elucidating on the company’s success in the India market. It also opened its 10th store in Delhi at the DLF Promenade in Vasant Kunj. This will be the company’s 38th store in India. In addition, the company also has plans to launch an extended line of beverages and penetrate cities like Ahmedabad, Chennai and Hyderabad by the end of this fiscal. “Currently we are only in the metros but we have been growing by 20 per cent and the competition is also increasing every day. We are thinking of what after donuts because we have to keep engaging people. But donuts will still be our main product category,” said Bhattacharya.
