Air India has planned a month-long special gastronomical treat for its cricket loving passengers, travelling during the World Cup in Australia. The new menu will roll out on board from February 14, 2015, the opening day of the World Cup and will be on till March 29, 2015. The menu has been designed by the Oberoi Flight Services and includes lunch, dinner and desserts. A beverage being introduced for the first time on Air India flights is the smoothie, in a variety of Indian flavours. Indian wines will also find a place on these flights.
Raina’s Cheesy Pull Shot, Sachin’s Sweet Drive, Dhoni’s Swashbuckling Super Sixer, Captain Smith’s Catch of the Season will be some of the exciting inclusions in the national carrier’s onboard menu. Air India’s onboard cuisine has been a major USP of the airline. At a presentation of the special menu to be offered, held at TajSATS flight Kitchen, Delhi, Rohit Nandan, CMD, Air India said “The airline takes pride in its culinary offerings across the network. Now, with the increasing number of international travellers on Air India flights as also the opening up of new destinations in the recent past, the airline will include more of Indian cuisine along with the cuisine of that region.”
Items that were interesting and creative, with cricket as the theme, using bat, ball, stumps, cricket field, etc. were immensely appealing. Also a specially designed menu card has also been launched along with a cricket specific nightwear for business class passengers.
